Together,Forever?

Hi All,
Didn't realize it has been over 2 months since the last post, and looking at where I was back then, Man, ive done a bit!!!
Over that time I've installed Facia's, Cut and installed Track profiles as well as improved its "Structural integrity" substantially.

Looking towards the "Up" or Botany direction showing the roof and inner skirting.

The "divider" in the middle, will be in fact the part "down" side hill up to the Road bridge which will be positioned close to the join on the left module. Originally I was only going to use 3mm MDF to do this, but a brain explosion resulted in a full 6mm profile board attached to the outside of both modules where they join, mainly to improve the integrity of the modules when they are apart.

Showing the "Business" End of the Right module. The fat side to the left will accomidate both up and down mains as well as the "hypothetical" Enfield yard Eastern arrival/departure road. The track in the middle will be the disused line which went to DELEC and was the original Up main. The track on the right will be a disused siding mocking the which use to go into a NSWGR Tarp Factory on the Northern side of Canterbury Road. Gives me a chance to put a disused wagon with crap growing through it, Ive already made the NQZA for this role!

Looking the down direction towards Enfield.

The Peco Code 83 point cluster ,showing how the alignment will be.

Showing the Corflute baseboard, this stuff is light, strong and easy to cut! I will be using this in the same way as Cardboard, the Americans use do to get the Ups and Downs of the scenery.

Still a bit of putty and sanding to do, but not long til I can start painting the backdrop.....lights......then on to laying track!!!!

Cheers Brendo

No Longer Transparent!

Howdy! It's been nearly 2 month's since the last post, but things have started to roll along nicely getting closer and closer day by day of having a train running a full loop of my super-structured layout!

Back Drop and the Lighting Valance have been installed, puttied and now are ready to paint. Cornice has been fitted to each side of the "dog leg" between Back Drop and Valance, not only to look neat but to improve its integrity.

In the blue boxes are the Fluro's that will light up the modules. Each module will have 4 Fluro's 2x 1230mm and 2x 620mm, which make up roughly the 2m needed to cover the length. A long and and a short will be right on the edge at the front and the other two in opposite order will be fitted front side of the middle. Keeping the long and shorts offset will stop the shadow effect! (Hopefully)

Facias will be installed soon as well as starting to plan the layout's baseboard.

Excuse the "Clampathon"! Its amazing how you can never have enough of these critters!

Below I've built a small frame where the main modules will join the fiddle yard, which allows a nice clean join between modules and eliminates the 40mm gap caused by the aluminium frame.

Show below is roughly the track hight of the mainline, allowing me to have various ups and downs like the prototype. 6mm MDF will be used with 42x19mm stanchions.
Doesn't NR103 look thirsty for some work?

We're off the floor, doing the Dinosaur!

Happy belated new year everyone!
WOOHOO!!! The main modules are off the floor and up on their legs! Funny how enormous these beasts are when you get them off the "horses", check out the pic with C510 in it to see the height in relation. Now to concentrate on the Base,Backdrop and Fascia boards!

1 Step forward, 2 Steps Back ,then finally 3 Steps forward! :-)

I know, its been a while between posts....but I've been a busy boy in all aspects of model and real railways!
I've completed the track laying on the fiddle yard and installed 27 Colbalt Point Motors to boot!
Ive also started construction of the Main modules with a new design which popped into my big head at the early hours of one morning. The new design incorporates timber and aluminium "connect it" construction, using a pulley system to enhance its "Structural Integrity". Which really has been two things ,a learning curve and simply a pain in the giblets, due to crappy equipment at local hardware stores and the gigantic design of mine!!!! But in the end using door rollers for pulleys, as the post title describes, I got it in the end. Now all I will have to mirror for module No. 2.
For those playing at home the bottom (baseboard) level is 1m x 2m ,the backdrop is 700mm off "Ground Zero" (top of the baseboard) and the light valance is 1.1m long which allows over hang, so there is no shadows with the lights.

Also there has been a few recent "pre paint" completions of rolling stock including,
Rails in Scale Railcorp NZBF
IDR Pac Nat RKPF (what a good kit)
IDR ex WOAX converted to a POTA SOAX with doors removed

So here are some pics that will wet your appetite!!!

Finally some colour other than just plastic or resin!!!

Howdy!
A break while paint was drying on my modules over the last couple of days allowed me actually to paint a wagon! It has been over a year Ive been able to do so, due to moving and other things so really chuffed to get back into it!
So the first thing to pop out was Pacific National's ROCY 34763 2CM bogie transporter which is now 90% complete!

Ive modelled it in its Crappy glory as seen on NP3 on 12/11/10 at Yanderra.

Ive recorded 3 ex CDY/NOCY still in original form used for this service,
RZCY 34760 - Weathered NRC Grey
ROCY 34763 - Weathered Seatrain Blue
ROCY 34790 - Wathered Rusty Brown
Most NOCY's were converted to NQKY's skeletal decks back in Freightcorp days.

It will be loaded with 16 AR Kits 2CM bogies weathered in different states and different colour markings.
